My Last Official Trip, The Netherlands

Trip to the Netherlands is the last official trip I am obtained in Leuven, Belgium. The week of hard time is coming. I've got five courses in this first term in KU Leuven, three of them for exam and two others just for certificate of attendance. I've been to several destinations in Belgium, Germany and now the Netherlands.

       The Netherlands is one of the low country in Europe. More than half of the land lies below the sea level or at most one meter above sea level. So, Holland is easily goes down under water. Wat is the big enemy for Holland. Sometime there is too much water and but very dried during summer. The report said that "The last major flood in the Netherlands took place in early February 1953, when a huge storm caused the collapse of several dikes in the southwest of the Netherlands. More than 1,800 people drowned in the ensuing inundations. The Dutch government subsequently decided on a large-scale program of public works (the "Delta Works") to protect the country against future flooding. The project took more than thirty years to complete." - (Wikipedia). Nowadays, the Netherlands is most advance country in building dikes, dams, and the likes to protect from water disaster. Since Dutch government found way not to against the water but cooperate with water, they can increase size of land further to the sea.       I thought I am very lucky to deeply see what it is really going on in Holland, particularly Rotterdam city and the Deltaworks. Of course, it is very beneficial for those who are going to take The Low Countries at the Crossroads of European history. This visiting is at least explaining us about the situation of low countries, why Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg are the low countries?
